The first group of participants were welcomed at Imam Khomeini International Airport on Thursday, three days before the launch of the competition’s finals.
The final round is slated to kick off in the northeastern holy city of Mashhad on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
A total of 57 Quran reciters, memorizers and Tarteel reciters from 27 countries will via for the top prizes.
They have made it to the finals from among representative of 104 countries competing in the preliminary stage.
Quran recitation, memorization of the entire Quran and Tarteel are the categories in the men section.
In the women section, the contenders compete in Terteel recitation and memorization of the entire Quran.
Iran’s representatives in this year’s edition are Seyed Mohammad Hosseinipour, Mohammad Khakpour, Mojtaba Qadbeigi, Fatemeh Daliri and Ghazaleh Soheilizadeh.
The International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is annually organized by the country’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
