Amjad, a trustee of the Association, told Altrincham Today that £1 million has already been raised to secure the site, with the next phase of fundraising focusing on an estimated £4 million for construction costs.

"The current mosque was purchased in 2003. In 22 years, we have completely outgrown it; it has a capacity of 600-odd people," Amjad said. "We're not expecting to fill the new mosque as soon as it is built, but we're looking at the next 25 years. We want to future-proof ourselves."

The planned facility, spanning 25,000 sq ft across two and a half floors, is designed to accommodate up to 1,800 worshippers. It will include dedicated spaces for prayer, ritual washing (wudu), an on-site café, and 94 parking spaces. A rooftop area is also being considered for weddings and private events.

In response to potential concerns over traffic congestion, Amjad highlighted the wider development in the area, including 2,500 planned homes in Davenport Green. He also noted that the move would help alleviate congestion on Grove Lane, which is both a bus route and a narrower road compared to Thorley Lane.

The Association has been in discussions with Trafford Council, and Amjad expressed confidence in the planning application. "Our consultants are very, very confident," he said, emphasizing that the site is not designated as Green Belt land.

If approved, construction is expected to take around 18 months, with a projected completion in 2028. The current Grove Lane mosque would be sold for housing redevelopment.
