‘Religious Duty’: Iranian Sunni Scholars Call for Resistance Against Israel
The Sunni Muslims issued a statement on Saturday addressing leaders and the youths of Muslim countries following the latest developments in the region and Iran’s victory against the Israeli regime in a 12-day war.
The statement said it is a “religious duty and a divine obligation” to resist the enemies and support the Islamic front.
It added that the illegitimate foundation of the wicked Israeli regime was based on violence and the evil policies of Britain and the United States.
The occupying entity is “a cancerous tumor in the body of Muslim countries," it emphasized.
The Sunni scholars said the Israeli-American acts of aggression against Iran exposed their failure in the face of the resistance front and warned against the spillover of the war into other Muslim countries.

The Israeli regime launched an all-out aggression on Iranian soil on June 13, targeting various military and nuclear sites and assassinating top-ranking military commanders and nuclear scientists, as well as ordinary civilians.
The Iranian Armed Forces, in response, pounded the regime and its military and industrial infrastructure, using new-generation missiles that hit the designated targets with precision.
After 12 days, the Tel Aviv regime was forced to declare a unilateral ceasefire in a deal proposed by Washington to prevent further blows from Iranian missiles.
Elsewhere in their statement, the Sunni scholars pointed to Israel’s crimes against Palestinian women and children, and said Operation al-Aqsa Flood, launched by Palestinian resistance fighters against the regime, was a “unique epic” and the beginning of the erosion of the Zionists’ military and economy.

The Operation al-Aqsa Flood, launched on October 7, 2023, came in response to the Israeli regime’s intensified aggression against Palestinians. It saw the fighters storming the occupied territories, taking control of Israeli military bases and illegal settlements around Gaza, and taking more than 240 Israelis captive.
The signatories of the statement blasted Israeli and US attacks on Muslim countries and the assassination of resistance leaders, which clearly show their enmity towards the resistance front.
They called on Muslim countries, intellectuals, and fighters to take an explicit stance on the need to support the Islamic front in practice.
