The prestigious event, held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and organized by the Ministry of Awqaf, runs from December 7 to December 10, 2024, according to Al-Ahram newspaper.
More than 100 participants and judges from 60 countries are attending the competition.
The event offers Egypt's largest prize pool in its history, totaling 11 million Egyptian pounds.
A new category introduced this year focuses on Quran translation, providing a platform for multilingual participants to showcase their skills in translation.
The competition also includes a book fair hosted by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. This initiative aims to familiarize participants and the public with key religious and cultural publications promoting awareness and reinforcing universal religious values.

Sheikh Osama Al-Gendy of the Ministry of Awqaf emphasized the significance of the competition, stating, “This year, over 60 countries from various continents are participating, with 141 contestants selected after rigorous online preliminary evaluations.”
The annual event has grown to include diverse categories such as Quran memorization for non-Arabic speakers and families, alongside interpretation and recitation competitions.
