The runner-up in the World Women Quran Reciting Competition finals was from the United States.
Other participants who trailed the list came from Jordan, Zanzibar and Tanzania Mainland.
The winners received cash prizes and other awards.
The competition was held in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
It was organized by the National Muslim Council of Tanzania (Bakwata) in collaboration with the International Islamic Organization (IIO).
Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan addressed the opening of the event, saying that Muslims should not only read the Quran, but should also understand its teachings.
She noted that the Holy Book contains answers to challenges and that following its teachings and guidance will prepare people from going astray.
Elsehwere in her remarks, the Tanzanian leader emphasized the prioritization of moral regeneration in the country.

She directed religious institutions to actively instill spiritual principles into young people.
She urged religious institutions to devise new methods of providing quality religious education to boys, girl and women to ensure the community had the foundation of its principles.
“We should not only provide religious education to our children, but also to women who spend a lot of time with children. Let’s educate everyone to have strong foundations.”
According to the secretary general of the National Muslim Council of Tanzania, Nuhu Mruma, the theme of the competition was “A Mother Is A Nurturer”.
He said the theme reflected Tanzania’s status as a host due to having a female president.
